Our Activities

There are 120 mentally and physically challenged people at the Akshaya Kshetram Ashram. Most are children and most belong to low income families, who are being supported by the staff with guidance on how to take care of their children when at home.

The school provides academic, vocational, medical and psychological support to the children and their parents. Residents are assessed on practical ability and assigned one of three categories, according to the severity of their condition.

Developing Skills

We teach the residents to become more self-sufficient and look after themselves in order that they can grow in confidence and eventually become part of society.

In the Community

The school takes pride in the service it provides for its residents and for the wider community. The local community has embraced the presence of Akshaya Kshetram and supporters often celebrate birthdays and other auspicious events with the Ashram by giving gifts or donations on the day. We invite new donors to do the same and to visit Akshaya Kshetram to share the occasion.

Our Work with the Sri Venkateshwara Temple

The Sri Venkateshwara temple in nearby Tirumala is world famous and a spiritual landmark for many Hindus. Our residents and staff work together to create paper bags which are used by the temple when giving out food parcels (prasadam) to its visitors.

Akshaya Kshetram is proud of its partnership with the temple and we are keen to show the contribution that our residents can make to our wider society. Through this activity, they engage in meaningful employment and learn life lessons that are essential to their personal development and education.
